B and C team flying, A team floundering — a rollercoaster week for the club

The West Somerset Bowls League served up another action‑packed round of twists and turns, and nowhere was the drama more intense than in the fortunes of the three Wellington sides. From soaring triumphs to sobering defeats, the club experienced the full emotional spectrum in Week 2.

WELLINGTON A – A TOUGH NIGHT AND A TOUGHER TABLE

It was another bruising evening for Wellington A, who ran into a rampant Williton A side in a match that never quite swung their way. Despite flashes of resilience, the scoreboard told a harsher truth: Wellington slipped to the bottom of Division One with a -53 aggregate, the heaviest in the league.

Two games in, two defeats, and only 2 points on the board — it’s been a rocky start. But if there’s one thing Wellington A have in abundance, it’s grit. They’ll need every ounce of it as they look to claw their way back into the pack.

WELLINGTON B – UNBEATEN AND UNSTOPPABLE

If the A team are enduring storm clouds, the B team are basking in sunshine.

Wellington B delivered another commanding performance, this time overpowering Taunton D with confidence and control. Their rink win tally, shot difference and overall composure mark them out as early promotion contenders.

Two matches, two victories, 22 points, and a sparkling +32 aggregate — Wellington B are not just winning, they’re winning with style. They sit proudly in 2nd place in Division Two, neck‑and‑neck with Burnham B in what’s already shaping up to be a heavyweight duel at the top.

WELLINGTON C RUN RIOT IN WEEK 2 — A 12–0 MASTERCLASS THAT SHOOK DIVISION TWO

Victoria Park B left dazed, confused, and wondering what on earth just happened

If Wellington C were looking to make a statement in Week 2, they didn’t just make one — they hired a brass band, lit fireworks, and carved it into the side of the Quantocks.

In a performance that can only be described as bowling carnage, Wellington C stormed to a 12–0 whitewash, flattening Victoria Park B by a thumping 65 shots to 43. It was ruthless. It was relentless. It was the kind of result that makes opposition skips suddenly remember they’ve “got something on next Thursday”.

Spectators reported scenes ranging from “clinical brilliance” to “mild emotional distress for the home side”. One rink was so one‑sided that rumour has it the marker briefly checked whether the scoreboard was upside down.

A NIGHT OF HEROICS (AND A FEW GIGGLES)- Wellington C didn’t just win — they steamrolled, steam‑cleaned, and steam‑pressed their opponents. Every rink clicked. Every bowl mattered. Every end felt like another chapter in a sporting epic that Victoria Park B will be trying very hard to forget.

By the time the final bowl came to rest, the away supporters were grinning like lottery winners, and the home supporters were staring into the middle distance, questioning their life choices.

THE AFTERMATH- The league table now shows Wellington C sitting pretty with 16 points, a shiny +14 aggregate, and a growing reputation as the division’s most unpredictable and entertaining side.

One week they’re battling. The next week they’re blowing teams off the green. If this continues, Division Two might need a warning label.

THE VERDICT- Wellington C didn’t just win — they unleashed a bowls-based natural disaster. And the rest of the division has officially been put on notice.
