Firstly, & most importantly, on behalf of the full "Teignmouth Open Bowls Tournament "committee, we hope you, your family, friends & club members, have been keeping well during the pandemic & are now looking forward to getting back on the green, bowling.
Secondly, "The Teignmouth Tournament" is back!! It will take place from Sunday 12th to Friday 17th September 2021. After having to cancel in 2020 we are raring to go & determined to re-establish the tournament back to the fantastic level we had achieved in 2019. This will be the 86th tournament! We are still determined to get past that magical 100 mark!
However, to do this we have a few hurdles to get over. This will include retaining our previous sponsors & attracting new ones. Also ensuring all entrants are reassured as to their personal safety in being able to compete in an Open tournament.
2021 will be crucial to getting us back on the road to success, exactly the same as it will be for you and your club.
To this end, we would be extremely grateful if you could help us by advertising the event within your club. I have enclosed the 2021 poster & entry form. Please let me know if you wish us to provide further copies.
We are going to try to run a full programme of events, in the same "round robin" format, as in previous years (as below), to give everyone a guaranteed value for money bowling experience. However, should entry numbers not allow this we will amend the format of the events, as needed, to ensure we deliver a great competitive bowling week.

I'm sure that you'll appreciate that it has not yet been possibly to approach our sponsors, some of whom are still not back open & trading. This, in fact, may not be possible until after the 21st June easing of lockdown date.
So, at this stage, before we have confirmed entries & have been able to speak with sponsors, we are unable to confirm exact prize money levels.
Our total prize money in 2019 was in excess of £6000, making it one of the most generous events in the country. We will be doing our very best to get back up to that same level. We will confirm prize money levels, to all entrants, prior to the event starting.
To allow us to be able to plan the event fully, with so much uncertainty still, we are going to have to adhere to very strict dates to accept entries;
1) ENTRIES WILL CLOSE ON SATURDAY 31ST JULY 2021
2) Any entries received after this date will go on a waiting list
3) All entries must be paid for by cheque, bank transfer or cash, on receipt of the entry form
This is going to be a difficult year, re-establishing the event & indeed our whole game for every club. We are confident, & determined to make the tournament successful.
I would also like to take this opportunity to wish your club every success for 2021. I'm sure that we are all hoping that life gets back to some sort of "new normal" and equally that our sport can recover strongly from the last, very difficult, 14/15 months.

There is free parking in the Leisure Centre car park which is immediately adjacent to the Bowling Club. Wheelchair access is via the ramp at the corner of the green where Corams Lane joins Springfield Road.
