WSBL week 8- A Dramatic Scene Upon the Bowling Green
Wellington BC
Prologue – The Three Houses of Wellington
In this eighth week of the league’s unfolding tale, the three proud Wellington realms—A, B, and C— did stride upon the summer turf, each with its own fortunes, trials, and triumphs. Though their paths diverged, their spirit was one: honour upon the green, courage in the cast, and steadfast hearts beneath the Somerset sky.
Act I – Wellington A: A Victory Most Sweet
Enter Wellington A, weary yet resolute.
Long had Wellington A wandered through shadows, their season beset by misfortune and cruel arithmetic. Yet upon the green of Eastover, a spark of hope did kindle anew.
Their leads, loyal knights of the first cast, placed their woods with artistry fine. Their seconds pressed the head with bold intent. And Sir Paul, sovereign of the rink, did command with regal poise.
Thus did Wellington A seize their moment, claiming a triumph most glorious: 59–45, their second victory of the season.
The green itself seemed to rejoice, whispering:
“Behold, Wellington rises.”
And so their hopes of survival, once faint, now flicker with renewed life.
Act II – Wellington B: Monarchs of Division Two
Enter Wellington B, radiant in triumph.
In the second division, the house of Wellington B shone like a star ascendant. Eight battles fought, eight victories claimed, and Week Eight brought a conquest fit for kings.
Their woods rolled true, their lines were noble, and their command of the green was absolute.
Against Burnham-on-Sea C they wrought a masterpiece: 80–34, a victory so complete it echoed across the league like a trumpet blast.
King Ian of Wellington B, a monarch upon the summer turf, did lead his knights with calm authority, and the realm bowed before their might.
Thus does Wellington B’s crown gleam ever brighter, their dynasty in full and glorious bloom.
Act III – Wellington C: Warriors in the Twilight
Enter Wellington C, steadfast though beset by storm.
Yet upon another rink, beneath the same Somerset sky, the house of Wellington C fought a different battle.
Their realm troubled, their fortunes waning, they faced North Petherton C with hearts full of courage.
Though the tally fell against them— 55–33 to their foes— their spirit did not falter.
Lady Lynda of Wellington C, noble and resolute, declared:
“Though the winds blow cold, yet we shall stand. Honour is our birthright.”
And in that steadfastness, their courage shone bright upon the green, a beacon in the gathering dusk.
Epilogue – The Wellington Chronicle
Thus did the three Wellington houses write their chapter in Week the Eighth:
- Wellington A, reborn in victory, rising from the shadows with a triumph most sweet.
- Wellington B, monarchs of Division Two, their reign unbroken, their glory unmatched.
- Wellington C, valiant in adversity, fighting with hearts full of courage though the storm be fierce.
Three houses, one spirit— each showing the league what honour truly means.
