On Wednesday, 48 Wellington bowlers came together for a special charity event in support of the President’s chosen charity, The Beacon Centre. Twelve teams of four took part, enjoying a relaxed afternoon of friendly competition with the simple aim of having fun while raising funds for a great cause.

After 18 ends, played as three matches of six ends each, Prague — Ian Lloyd, Tony Weston, Viv Newton and Jay Merrell — emerged as overall winners, finishing ahead of strong challenges from Amsterdam, Berlin, Oslo and several other European‑themed teams. It was wonderful to see so many members taking part and embracing the spirit of the occasion.

Thanks to everyone’s generosity, the event raised £189 for the Beacon Centre.

A special thank you goes to Paul Kelly and Pete White for providing an excellent BBQ, which not only kept our hungry bowlers well fed but also raised additional funds for the club.
